The tools of the programme PROGRESS are available !

This post is also available in: frFrançais (French)

For one year, the French League of Human Rights – AEDH member- has developed a program of information and training on access to rights for Roma persons. This project was made possible with the financial support of the Progress program of the European Union.

Two national tools were created through this program and numerous training sessions have been organised by sections or regional committees of the League, but also by members and activists across different cities of France.

The tools are available to all in order to continue the actions in the field and the training sessions.

The first tool is entitled Guide for local authorities and local actors. This guide provides technical advices and useful methodological tools for the implementation of projects for the respect of inviduals’ fundamental rights. It will enable citizens to contact their French elected representatives, to establish a dialogue and encourage them to implement their competencies while respecting the fundamental rights of Roma people.

This tool can be downloaded here (only available in French)

The second tool is the booklet “Roma have rights” to be used by activists. This package is composed of factsheets addressed to activists, volunteers and professional associations working with Roma persons. The goal is to rely on existing legislation to combat discrimination and to call on public authorities in an effective way.

Although these tools are primarily addressed to a French audience, since it tackles the French legislation, they could serve as a basis for creating similar tools in other countries of the European Union.
