During the 9th International Labour Organisation (ILO) European Regional Meeting, labour ministers adopted the Oslo Declaration: "Restoring confidence in jobs and growth".
Labour ministers came up with possible solutions to the youth employment crisis, in particular by increasing labour mobility across Europe, by enhancing career orientation, by creating jobs in the social economy and subsidies for employers hiring youth. Moreover, young people must have access to quality education and be intensively accompanied in job seeking. Social dialogue is therefore essential. Ministers noted that early unemployment has damaging consequences on long-term career prospects.
