Protection of Refugee and Migrants Children in Europe

This post is also available in: frFrançais (French)

In the migratory journey, and on their arrival in Europe, children are exposed to numerous risks (physical assault, trafficking and sexual exploitation, psychological suffering, material difficulties …). In turn, the Council of Europe is developing an action plan (2017-2019) on the protection of refugee and migrant children in Europe. This document places particular emphasis on procedures and best practices on the three issues: children’s access to education and appropriate shelter; their effective protection against all forms of violence, including trafficking and sexual exploitation; and their harmonious integration into their host society.

The Council of Europe intends to contribute to the preparation of two global compacts on refugees and for safe, orderly and regular migration planned for adoption in 2018.
