The ÖLMR expresses its concerns regarding the dreadful hosting of asylum seekers in Austria: they must live in terrible conditions, often without shelter, and expecting the validation of their application that will, in the state of things nowadays, never happen.

21 April 2015 – It is estimated that over 20,000 people have lost their lives along Europe’s borders over the past 20 years, with almost 2,000 of them perishing in the Mediterranean since the start of 2015. The Member States of the European Union (EU) will address the issue of these repeated tragedies at the 25-6 June European Council meeting.
Open letter: the national immigration policies threaten the lives of migrants and asylum seekers in Europe
19 June 2015 – Following the initiative of Doctors of the World, AEDH cosigned with several associations a letter adressed to Vytenis Andriukaitis, European commissioner to Health & Food Safety, as well as to all the national ministers for health before the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) of June 19th.
Statewatch: The Commission would be planning to use coercion in order to obtain asylum seekers and migrants’ fingerprints
March,10 2015 –The European Commission and the Member States would be discussing the « best practices to follow»in order to obtain asylum seekers and illegal immigrants’ fingerprints by force. Their fingerprints have to integrate EURODAC data base so that the Dublin III Regulation can be applied. The Commission would be considering putting forward the « use of a proportionate degree of coercion » against naysayers, including vulnerable people and minors.
FRA’s Focus: « Legal entry channels to the EU for persons in need of international protection: a toolbox »
6 March 2015 – The European Union Agency for Human Rights (FRA) submits in this “focus” techniques and means to enable third-country nations in search of international protection to attain Europe without using smugglers or dangerous channels. Following the example of other international organizations and many NGOs, FRA campaigns for the opening of legal channels for asylum seekers to join Europe. It considers that such a measure would contribute to the fight against human trafficking.
UNHCR’s recommendations to the Latvian Presidency
