The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament has endorsed the EU-Turkey “readmission” agreement signed by both parties on 16 December 2013.
UE-Turkey readmission agreement: a threat to Human rights
Ahmet Davutoglu (Turkish foreign affairs minister) and the EU Commissioners Cecilia Malmström and Stefan Füle announced that on the 16th December Turkey will sign an agreement on the readmission of migrants entering the EU illegally from its territory; in exchange for signing the readmission agreement, the EU will open up the way for visa liberalization for Turkish nationals.

The LIBE committee of the European Parliament voted on the data protection reform package
On Monday 21st of October, the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) committee of the European Parliament approved the proposed amendments to the Proposal of a general data protection Regulation and of a separate Directive for the law enforcement sector.
The European Parliament adopted Eurosur
On Thursday (10/10/2013) the European Parliament, gathered in Strasbourg, adopted the draft regulation Eurosur, which aims to establish a European border surveillance system. On several occasions, AEDH has expressed concern about the threat of Eurosur to Human rights.
The European Parliament has voted the EU-Armenia Readmission Agreement
This morning, the MEPs have adopted the EU-Armenia visa facilitation agreement and readmission agreement, the latter threatening migrant’s rights and democracy in Europe. AEDH is disappointed to find that the European Parliament, gathered in Strasbourg, has not taken into account its position on this issue.
