The negociations on the "working time" Directive start again - 12 January 2011

The Communication from the European Commission on reviewing of the working time directive published on 21 December 2010, concerns the second consultation of the social partners, after the first consultation that took place during spring 2010. 

The revision of the working time directive was launched by the Commission in 2004 and the negotiations between the European Parliament and the Council lasted five years and turned out to be a failure in 2009 as the two institutions were unable to agree on a revision of this directive. Therefore the Commission initiated in 2010 a new revision process, which includes this Communication.
