The European Framework for Roma integration: AEDH calls upon European Union to strengthen its position and to take into consideration acts of violence against Roma - Press release 27 April 2011

AEDH welcomes the new framework for Roma Integration in the European Union released by the European Commission on April the 5th 2011i but considers that it is not enough to stop discriminations against Roma people.

While approving the majority of the provisions of the new framework proposal, AEDH believes that in order to achieve a real improvement on the situation of Roma people in Europe, it is necessary to go beyond a simple economic and social point of view and to adopt an approach based on the respect of fundamental rights and human dignity.
