The European Commission reasserts the need of an enhanced solidarity of EU members States in the field of asylum - 2 December 2011The European Commission published, on December 2nd 2011, a communication in which it points out measures it will propose as to improve solidarity between member States when it comes to asylum. Solidarity is fundamental to create a common asylum system but it must be followed by concrete actions. The measures scheduled for 2012 are developed around four areas: practical cooperation and technological assistance, financial solidarity, the division of responsibilities, and improved tools for the governance of the asylum system. These axes, which will launch important tools for the creation of a common asylum system, however, should cause at the same time, measures to sanction non-compliance and impose mandatory deadlines in order to achieve a real common asylum system.
