The European Commission publishes a Green paper on the right to family reunification of third country nationals living in the European Union - 15 November 2011

The European Commission published, on November 15th 2011, a Green paper on the right to family reunification of third country nationals living in the European Union, following the implementation of the Directive 2003/86/EC. 

The consultation related to the Green paper is open until March 1st 2012, and aims to collect opinions from all relevant actors, regarding more effective rules of application of the Directive, in view of a future public hearing. It takes into account issues identified by the Stockholm Programme and the European Pact on immigration and asylum, as well as the Commission’s first report on implementation of the directive.
