The EDPS warns against the risks linked to the use of Eurodac – 15 December 2010

The European Data Protection Supervisor issued its opinions about the amended proposal for “EURODAC regulation” to be adopted by the European Parliament and Council.

The EDPS conclusions aim to underline the serious risks that can be caused by the processing of biometric data, such as fingerprints as well as the need of a supplementary and more technical safeguard in order to guarantee the proper applicability of Regulation (EC) No 45/2001.
