19 October 2010 - Last and final comment in the Roma case, the Commission gives up

The European Commission decided to launch at the end of September, infringement proceedings against France for failure to transpose the directive on free movement of EU citizens in the EU, only if France did not propose measures for the effective transposition of the said Directive before October 15th, 2010.

Not unsurprisingly, the European Commission announced on October 19, 2010 that France had fulfilled its commitments and that therefore, no infringement proceedings would be launched on the Roma case.
