Irregulaties in Greek -Turkish borders: the new report from FRA – 9 March 2011

A new report has been published by FRA, the European Union Agency for fundamental rights, related to the situation of irregular people crossing Greek borders.

Since the 90s, an increasing wage composed by hundreds of irregular migrants, as well as people looking for international protection has been crossing Greek borders, usually seen as an entry point to other European counties. This issue, causing a considerable raise in black labour, leaded FRA to highlight the need of an agreement between concerned authorities in order to stop irregular work and built a practical system to guarantee the issue of work permits to these immigrants.
