HUMA Network issues two reports on access to healthcare for undocumented migrants and asylum seekers - 14 December 2010Two reports have been recently published by HUMA Network (Health for Undocumented Migrants and Asylum seekers Network) : the first one focuses on legislation and practices in the access to healthcare in 10 EU countries and the other one, made up by the Médecins du Monde European Observatory on Access to Haethcare, focuses on living conditions, health status and problems in accessing healthcare for undocumented migrants and their children. The first report seeks to provide an updated overview of the different systems regulating access to health care for undocumented migrants and asylum seekers in ten Member States and nd shows the existing discriminations in regards to legal entitlements. his research has corroborated that the right to health is guaranteed neither for undocumented migrants nor for asylum seekers in the EU. The second report, based on more than 1200 interviews with undocumented migrants in 11 counrties, points out the social health inequalities and the difficulties of access to health care in Europe.
