Council Directive 2004/113/EC implementing the principle of equal treatment between men and women in the access to and supply of goods and services - 13 December 2004

The Directive establishes the prohibition of discrimination based on sex in the access to and supply of goods and services.

Therefore, all direct discrimination between women and men is prohibited, including unfavourable treatment for reasons of pregnancy and maternity, and all indirect discrimination is also prohibited.

Harassment, sexual harassment and incitement to discrimination are considered as discrimination based on sex and for this reason are also prohibited.
