Council Directive 2000/43/EC implementing the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of racial or ethnic origin - 29 June 2000Council Directive 2000/43/EC of 29 June 2000 implementing the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of racial or ethnic origin sets out a binding framework by prohibiting racial discrimination throughout the EU. The directive outlaws discrimination in the fields of employment, social protection and social security, social benefits, education and access to the supply of goods and services. Moreover, it recognises that discrimination on the grounds of ethnic origin may affect women and men differently.
