Convention for the protection of individuals with regard to automatic processing of personnel data – January, 28th 1981

The purpose of the Council of Europe Convention is to guarantee to each person, the respect of his fundamental rights, and especially his right to a private life with regard to automatic processing of personal data relating to him. This is one of the first standards which have been enacted concerning the protection of personal data.
