Charter for a democratic use of video-surveillance - 20 May 2010

This charter, built around seven principles, has been adopted by representants of ten European cities under the aegis of the European Forum for Urban Security (EFUS) in order provide to cities and other entities dealing with video-surveillance, a set of principles, references and recommendations for a good use of video-surveillance systems, respectful of civil liberties.

The AEDH supports the enforcement and the application of the Charter since we consider that video-surveillance does not constitute the appropriate tool to apply and that the use of that tool, should the case arise, must be limited to its strictly necessary character.
