AEDH welcomes the European Parliament’s dismissal of the ACTA treaty – a major step forward - Press release 5 July 2012

AEDH welcomes the European Parliament’s decision to finally reject the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement by an overwhelming majority (478 against, 39 in favour, 165 abstentions).

This ‘verdict’ comes as no surprise in light of the negative votes to come out of the five parliamentary committees last month. However, the European debate concerning ACTA has been lengthy and intense - a crucial moment of a legislative process that brought all stakeholders together in defending our fundamental rights.
