A proposal for a directive as to address the deficiencies in the field of the fight against discriminations at the EU level - July 2nd, 2008

The European Commission presented in early July 2008 a proposal for a directive on the implementation of the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation sexual.

This long-awaited directive, would overcome the lack of legislation in this area. Indeed, so far, such a principle was established, but only in the field of employment and training. A situation which created a serious loophole in EU legislation.
