The European Commission reiterates its serious concerns over the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution of Hungary - April, 12th 2013

In a letter sent to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán today, President Barroso confirms that the Commission has serious concerns over the compatibility of the Fourth Amendment to the Hungarian Fundamental Law with EU legislation and with the principle of the rule of law.

5th report of citizenship of the Union - February, 15th 2008

In this report, which covers the period from 1 May 2004 to 30 June 2007, the Commission takes stock of the application of existing provisions on citizenship of the Union and examines whether it is necessary to strengthen the rights of the Union’s citizens.

Greenpaper European Transparency Initiative - May, 3rd 2006

The Commission launched the European Transparency Initiative on 9 November 2005. This Green Paper is a key component of the Initiative and is the starting-point for this consultation. The consultation will allow stakeholders to have their say on three aspects of transparency in the European Union.

4th report on citizenship of the Union - October, 24th 2004

In this fourth report on Union citizenship covering the period from 1 May 2001 to 30 April 2004, the Commission concludes that the Community rules on the rights of Union citizens are on the whole applied correctly and without serious problems. The Member States have implemented the secondary legislation in this area and remaining problems are due to incorrect application and practices rather than to the failure of national legislation to comply with Community legislation.
