Internship at the AEDH

At the moment, you can apply for the next session of internship which will start in September 2012

The European Association for the Defense of Human Rights (AEDH) offers unpaid internship lasting from five to six months (with an internship agreement). The AEDH representatives are Human Rights experts elected by member leagues in order to defend the interests and voice of citizens from members States at the European level. Those representatives form the executive Board of the AEDH. They live in different European States and rely daily upon the work of the Brussels office. This office needs interns.

Tasks :

• The intern is in charge of the European legal and political monitoring;

• He (she) follows legal proposals and political debates within the European institutions, especially within the European Parliament, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Council;

• He (she) also monitors news from Member States, as well as debates and initiatives of associative networks, when there is a link with our intervention themes;

• He (she) is in charge of the elaboration of a thematic research and the drafting of reports and synthesis which will be submitted to the Executive Board and members leagues;

• He (she) participates in the development and management of the communication tools;

• He (she) is also responsible for the elaboration of the Association’s weekly newsletter;

• He (she) takes part into the daily administrative tasks of the Association.

• Asylum and migration policy

• Protection of fundamental rights and privacy

• Discrimination

• Personal data protection

• Economic, cultural and social rights

• Democratic life and citizenship

Skills and profile required:

• The applicant should know how the EU decision-making process works as well as the relations within European institutions;

• The applicant should have a university degree in political science, specialized in International or European relations, or a university degree in International or European law

• Communication or Language students, interested in promoting and defending Human Rights within the European Union, are also welcome.

• Applications of students from other academic backgrounds will be considered.

Qualifications:

• Very good knowledge of English and French, another European language(s) is an asset

• A knowledge / experience in the associative field is a plus

• Knowledge of informatics tools and use of Internet
